iCloud: Documents in the Cloud
a look at the web interface, iPad, and iPhone iWork applications and
how document syncing works in these applications.
You can also drag and drop any iWork ’09 or Microsoft Office document from your computer into one of the iWork apps on icloud.com, and it automatically appears on all your iOS devices, ready for you to review, edit, or present.
This is an awesome feature and it works very quickly. It appears to accept any file format that each individual iWork app could natively open. For example, you can drag a .txt, .doc, .docx, .rtf, or .pages into the Pages tab on iCloud.com/iwork. It seems that iCloud.com does no actual processing of the file, it is all done in the native iWork app. An example, the preview of the file or the ability to download it from iCloud.com don’t appear until you have opened it in a native app. Once this is done you can see a thumbnail image of your file and download it as an Office, iWork, or PDF. This iCloud stuff is pretty cool, now Apple when can I edit documents in the cloud?
