Installing 16GB of Ram in a 27" iMac

In this video I install 16GB of RAM from OWC in my mid 2011 27" iMac. This procedure is identical for all 27" iMacs as well as the 21.5" models. One of the big advantages of the new 2010-present iMacs are the 2 additional ram slots allowing me affordable get to 16GB. The performance of my iMac with 4x the standard ram is easily noticeable, however when really pushing my machine (final Cut, iTunes, iPhoto ect. ect.) I am occasionally still seeing some page outs indicating I am running out of physical memory.

With the relative low cost of ram I would recommend all users, Mac or PC, upgrade to the max ram that their hardware can support. This is especially true for machines running Mac OS X Lion. I have found Lion to be slightly ram hungry when compared to the same configuration running on Snow Leopard.
